Hardware requirements

The following are recommended hardware requirements.

Windows

• Processor
  • Intel Pentium III 1GHz processor (minimum)
• Memory
  • 512 MB for proof-of-concept. (1GB or more recommended)
• Disk space
  • 580 MB for installation (minimum)
  • 1.5GB for data storage (minimum) (Note that you should also allow for future growth of synchronization data.

  Note: The amount of disk space required is affected by the number of users.

• CD-ROM drive
• Mouse or pointing device and keyboard
• TCP/IP network software installed
• SVGA or better display resolution

AIX

• Processor
  • RS/6000 (minimum)
• Memory
  • 1GB (recommended)
• Disk space
  • 2GB free space

  Note: The amount of disk space required is affected by the number of users.

• CD-ROM drive
• Mouse or pointing device and keyboard
• TCP/IP network software installed
• SVGA or better display resolution

Operating system support and requirements

Synchronization Server runs on the following operating systems.

• Windows 2000 Server with Service Pack 3
• Windows 2000 Advanced Server with Service Pack 3
• AIX 5.1 with ML3

Software requirements

The following software is required for the Synchronization Server.

• DB2 Universal Database, Version 7.2.2 Fixpack 7 (local or remote)
• WebSphere Application Server Advanced Edition, Version 4.0.4
• WebSphere Portal, Version 4.2
• IBM JDK 1.3.1 Service Pack 3
• One of the following Web browsers:
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 5.0, 5.5, and 6.0
  • Mozilla 5.0
  • Netscape 6.1 and 6.2 are recommended. Important: Netscape Communicator 4.7x is not recommended for use with the portal.
  • Opera 5.0

Synchronization Server Adapters requirements

Adapters enable synchronization of data stored in different formats. Everyplace Synchronization Server provides adapters for Lotus Domino, Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server, Microsoft Exchange 5.5 Server, and DB2 (or other JDBC compliant relational databases). The following are the requirements for each Synchronization Server adapter.

• Lotus Domino Adapter
  • Lotus Domino Server Version 5.0.10 (or higher) using the standard templates: Std50Mail, iNotes5, Std4PersonalAddressBook, Std50Journal, StdR6Mail, Std6Journal, and custom templates defined in the Mapping Database directory. (This is the backend server.)
  • Lotus Notes Client Version 6 (This needs to be installed on the same machine as Synchronization Server. It is included with the WebSphere Everyplace Access CDs.)

  Note:	The Synchronization Server adapters cannot communicate with backend databases properly if Lotus Domino and either Microsoft Exchange 5.5 Server or Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server reside on the same host.

• Microsoft Exchange 2000 Adapter
  • Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server with Service Pack 2 (This is the supported backend server.)
  • Web-based Distributed Authoring and Versioning (WebDAV) compliant HTTP server (such as the Microsoft Internet Information Services) (This needs to be installed with the backend server.)

  Note:	To avoid conflicts, you should not install WebSphere Application Server Version 4.0.4 and Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server on the same machine.

• Microsoft Exchange 5.5 Adapter
  • Microsoft Exchange 5.5 Server (This is the supported backend server.)
  • Outlook 98 or 2000 with Workgroup option or Outlook 2002 (or newer) (This needs to be installed on the same machine as Synchronization Server.)
• DB2 Everyplace
  • DB2 Universal Database Version 7.2.2 Fixpack 7 (This is the DB2 Everyplace database and can be local or remote)
  • DB2 or any JDBC compliant database. (This is the backend server.)
  • 175 MB free disk space (minimum)
