Overview

In this sample you will learn how to develop and deploy a banking industry specific monitor model using WebSphere Business Monitor Development Toolkit V7.0 installed on either Rational Application Developer V7.5.4 or WebSphere Integration Developer V7.0. You will also be able to run the monitor model and view the results using a pre-built dashboard which you will import into Business Space powered by WebSphere.

The business process featured in this sample is vendor payment process in banking industry. Below is a diagram that describes this business process:

The purpose of this process is to provide a single point of entry, like information gateway, in dealing with various types of payment transactions to intelligently route them to their relevant legacy back-end systems.

In the diagram, you can see payment requests from a Web portal and the branch. Payment requests are submitted collectively to vendor payment process. These payment requests will then be validated and unbundled to individual payment. Individual payment will be accepted and evaluated, and both the individual status of each payment and the overall status for the collective payments will be provided. Finally payment instructions are batched and sent to diverse financial institutions each of which use a unique money transfer protocol. You can see SWIFT and SEPA network from the diagram.

In this sample, you will create:

• A visual model to display payments status on world map.
• KPIs to display payments status.
• Situation events for too many rejected payments in different payment network (SEPA or SWIFT).
• A user-defined function currency convertor to convert payment amount in different currencies to amount in US dollars (conversion rates are mock rates).
• A message mediation to create multiple instances of a monitor context for multiple payments inside a single payment request.
• Pie charts to analyze payment based on payment status and network.
• Line charts to report monthly payment amount and monthly payment transaction number.
• An instance view to analyze payment details.
