Overview

In this sample you will learn how to develop and deploy a telecom industry specific monitor model using WebSphere Business Monitor Development Toolkit V6.2 installed on either Rational Application Developer V7.5.1 or WebSphere Integration Developer V6.2. You will also be able to run the monitor model and view the results using a pre-built dashboard which you will import into Business Space powered by WebSphere.

The business process featured in this sample is the pre-order feasibility or customer order feasibility process. Below is a diagram that describes this business process:

The purpose of this process is to check the availability and/or the feasibility of providing and supporting product offerings and/or special solutions on standard product offerings to a customer. Order feasibility requests are submitted to a customer order feasibility process where customers are checked and requests are validated. An order is then broken down and checked with service and resource availability. After customer credit verification, order can be filled.

In the sample, you will create:

• A visual model to display received order feasibility requests percentage on US map.
• KPIs to display received order number, filled order percentage and resource availability by line of business (LOB). Three LOBs are referenced in this sample: DSL, Wireless and VOIP.
• Situation events for low filled order percentage by LOB.
• Bar charts to analyze received order and resource order by LOB, state and request time.
• 3D-line charts to report the comparison between received orders and filled orders, or the comparison between ordered resources and available resources, based on LOB, state and request time.
