When you first acquire the database server, you need to perform some initial installation and configuration tasks. For a description of these tasks, see Installing and Configuring the Database Server.
If you are moving from one version of the database server to another, refer to the IBM Informix: Migration Guide.
You must also configure connectivity for your database server and client applications, as explained in Client/Server Communications.
These tasks can seem complicated and time consuming. Fortunately, they are not common tasks and are not representative of most of the administrative work that the database server requires.
