Creating a Performance History

The methods that are described in this chapter can help you create a performance history of your current database server configuration. Use the information in the performance history to identify the performance bottlenecks in your system.

Begin scheduled monitoring of resource use as soon as you set up your database server and begin to run applications on it. To accumulate data for performance analysis, use operating-system and command-line utilities in scripts or batch files and write the output to log files.

For information about using command-line utilities Operating-System Tools. For information about accessing these utilities via a GUI, see IBM Informix Server Administrator.
