An sbspace is
a logical storage unit, composed of one or more chunks, in which you
can store smart large objects (such as BLOB, CLOB,
or multi representational data). For more information about sbspaces,
see the chapter on where data is stored in your IBM Informix: Dynamic Server Administrator's Guide.
This section provides guidelines for the following topics:
- Disk layout
- Configuration parameters
- Options for the onspaces utility
The DataBlade API and
the ESQL/C application
programming interface also provide functions that affect I/O operations
for smart large objects.
Important:
For most applications, it is recommended that you use
the values that the database server calculates for the disk-storage
information. For more information, see the IBM Informix: ESQL/C Programmer's Manual and
the IBM Informix: DataBlade API Programmer's Guide.
