This chapter describes a new environment option to the SET ENVIRONMENT statement that can abort all DML statements in other sessions that hold locks on database objects that DDL statements reference in the current session. This can prevent locks held by other users from interfering with DDL operations.
This chapter also describes the DISABLE_FILE_CLOSE_OPTIMIZATION configuration parameter, which should be set to 1 for the new environment option to the SET ENVIRONMENT statement to work dependably.
