System Catalog Tables

Version 8.51 of Extended Parallel Server does not change the schema of the system catalog, but it introduces changes to the values that can appear in two system catalog tables:

Table 15. New entries describing roles in system catalog tables
Table Description
syscolauth Three columns can accept entries that were not supported for roles in versions earlier than XPS 8.51:
  • The syscolauth.colauth column can use uppercase letters to describe privileges granted to roles with the WITH GRANT OPTION keywords. Formerly, privilege codes for roles were lowercase, indicating the absence of this attribute.
  • The syscolauth.grantee column can specify the authorization identifier of a role. Formerly, only the login names of individual users were valid in this column.
  • The syscolauth.grantor column can specify the authorization identifier of a role. Formerly, only the login names of individual users were valid in this column.
systabauth Three columns can accept entries that were not supported for roles in versions earlier than XPS 8.51
  • The systabauth.tabauth column can use uppercase letters to describe privileges granted to roles with the WITH GRANT OPTION keywords. Formerly, privilege codes for roles were lowercase, indicating the absence of this attribute.
  • The systabauth.grantee column can specify the authorization identifier of a role. Formerly, only the login names of individual users were valid in this column.
  • The systabauth.grantor column can specify the authorization identifier of a role. Formerly, only the login names of individual users were valid in this column.
For more information about these features, see Propagating Access Privileges Through Roles.

See the IBM Informix Guide to SQL: Reference for more information about syscolauth, systabauth, and the other tables in the system catalog of an Extended Parallel Server database.
