This chapter describes how support for the WITH GRANT OPTION keywords of the GRANT statement of SQL is now extended to access privileges that are granted to roles. This feature provides the DBA with greater flexibility in granting role-based access privileges on tables and views.
This chapter also gives examples of how the database server applies access privileges held by the user and privileges that the user holds through roles when the user seeks access to database objects. Additional examples illustrate chains of privileges, including privileges granted to roles, and the effect of the REVOKE statement in contexts of chained privileges.
