Lenovo Storage V7000 initial setup e-Learning course

This e-Learning module guides you through the improved, simplified initial setup tasks for the new Lenovo(R) Storage V7000 system. You will learn about setting up the system hardware and initializing the system. You need to complete these steps before you can launch the management GUI.

After preparing the environment and planning the location, you can begin setting up the hardware when it arrives. Note that it is recommended that at least three people lift the system into the rack. Install the support rails, install and secure the enclosures, and connect the power and Ethernet cables. You will also need to connect any Fibre Channel cables. For detailed information on how to complete these hardware setup tasks, see the installation poster and guide that was shipped with your system.

Next, you need to initialize your Storage system. System initialization sets the network credentials and creates the system. Your computer is used to apply the settings to the Storage system. Let's begin.

The initialization procedure must be run after your system has been racked, cabled, and powered on. To complete this process, you will need access to your powered-on Storage system, an Ethernet cable, the IP address of the system to be installed, and a personal computer.

To complete the initialization procedure, ensure your computer is connected to the system through the technician port.

Now, launch the initialization software to run system initialization. Point your browser to http://install.

On the System Initialization Welcome window, select whether you are configuring the first enclosure in a new system, and click Next. If you are configuring the first enclosure, enter the management IP address and click Finish. If you are not configuring the first enclosure in a new system, follow the displayed instructions on how to add a node to an existing system.

The initialization software indicates that the operation has completed successfully. You will be automatically redirected to the Storage management GUI. Log in as the superuser using the password, the word password with a 0 in place of the o, to complete the setup of your system.
