Configuring Tru64 5.1B UNIX AdvFS parameters

You must change the Tru64 5.1B UNIXAdvfsIORetryControl parameter to prevent Tru64 UNIX advanced file system (AdvFS) from losing access to Lenovo Storage V7000 disks.

As a result of temporary path loss, the AdvFS might lose access to the Lenovo Storage V7000 disks. Therefore, the AdvfsIORetryControl parameter must be changed from its default value of 0, as shown in Figure 1.

Figure 1. Setting the AdvfsIORetryControl parameter
# sysconfig -q advfs AdvfsIORetryControl
advfs:
AdvfsIORetryControl = 0
# sysconfig -r advfs AdvfsIORetryControl=2
# sysconfig -q advfs AdvfsIORetryControl
advfs:
AdvfsIORetryControl = 2
To prevent the AdvfsIORetryControl parameter from resetting after a reboot, enter the parameters in Figure 2.
Figure 2. Example entries to maintain the AdvfsIORetryControl parameter
# sysconfig -q advfs AdvfsIORetryControl > /tmp/advfs.out
# vi /tmp/advfs.out
advfs:
AdvfsIORetryControl=2

# sysconfigdb -af /tmp/advfs.out advfs

-> New entry in the /etc/sysconfigtab

# sysconfig -d advfs
advfs:
AdvfsIORetryControl = 2
