Creating a Fragmented Table

This section explains how to use SQL statements to create and manage fragmented tables. You can fragment a table at the same time that you create it, or you can fragment existing nonfragmented tables. An overview of both alternatives is given in the following sections. For the complete syntax of the SQL statements that you use to create fragmented tables, see the IBM Informix: Guide to SQL Syntax.

Before you create a fragmented table, you must decide on an appropriate fragmentation strategy. For information about how to formulate a fragmentation strategy, see your IBM Informix: Performance Guide.
