Using ON-Bar Configuration Parameters on Dynamic Server

ON–Bar on Dynamic Server uses the following configuration parameters.

Configuration Parameter Reference Purpose
ALARMPROGRAM page ALARMPROGRAM Specifies a script that handles alarms For ON–Bar, set this script to log_full.sh to automatically back up log files when they become full.
ALRM_ALL_EVENTS page ALRM_ALL_EVENTS (IDS) Causes ALARMPROGRAM to execute every time an alarm event is invoked
BAR_ACT_LOG page BAR_ACT_LOG Specifies the location and name for the ON–Bar activity log file
BAR_BSALIB_PATH page BAR_BSALIB_PATH Specifies the path of the storage-manager library on UNIX or a dll on Windows

Specifies the level of debugging information to display in the ON-Bar activity log file

You can dynamically update the value of BAR_DEBUG in the ONCONFIG file during a session

BAR_DEBUG_LOG page BAR_DEBUG_LOG Specifies the location and name of the ON-Bar debug log
BAR_HISTORY page BAR_HISTORY Specifies whether the sysutils database maintains the backup history
BAR_MAX_BACKUP page BAR_MAX_BACKUP (IDS) Specifies the maximum number of processes per onbar command
BAR_NB_XPORT_COUNT page BAR_NB_XPORT_COUNT (IDS) Specifies the number of shared-memory data buffers for each onbar_d worker or child process
BAR_PROGRESS_FREQ page BAR_PROGRESS_FREQ Specifies in minutes how frequently the backup or restore progress messages display in the activity log
BAR_RETRY page BAR_RETRY Specifies how many times ON–Bar should retry a backup, logical-log backup, or restore operation if the first attempt fails
BAR_XFER_BUF_SIZE page BAR_XFER_BUF_SIZE (IDS) Specifies the size in pages of the buffers that the database server uses to exchange data with each onbar_d worker or child process
ISM_DATA_POOL page ISM_DATA_POOL Specifies the volume pool that you use for backing up storage spaces (ISM)
ISM_LOG_POOL page ISM_LOG_POOL Specifies the volume pool that you use for backing up logical logs (ISM)
LTAPEDEV page LTAPEDEV (IDS) For ontape, specifies the tape device where logical logs are backed up

For ON–Bar, specifies whether to back up logs.

RESTARTABLE_RESTORE page RESTARTABLE_RESTORE (IDS) Turns restartable restore on or off
