Specifying Names and Maximum Number of Storage Spaces

Specify a dbspace name of up to 128 characters. The name must be unique and begin with a letter or underscore. You can use letters, digits, and underscores in the name.

If you use a CONFIGSIZE value of LARGE, you can create up to 8192 dbspaces. Use the MAX_DBSPACES parameter to increase the maximum number of dbspaces on the system to 32,767. For more information on MAX_DBSPACES, see the chapter on configuration parameters in the IBM Informix: Administrator's Reference and Increasing the Maximum Number of Dbspaces, Chunks, or Dbslices.
